Case Study : If a weight hung from a string is made to swing, it always completes one to-and-fro motion in exactly the same time. In other words, it repeats the oscillation in equal intervals of time.
A simple pendulum consists of a weight (like small metallic ball or a piece of stone) tied to a string. The other end of the string is tied to a rigid support.
Fig. (a) shows the pendulum at rest in its mean position. When the bob of the pendulum is released after taking it slightly to one side, it begins to move to-and-fro [Fig. (b)]. The to-and-fro motion of a simple pendulum is an example of periodic and oscillatory motion.

Which of the following does not show periodic motion?

A A car moving at a constant speed
B Pendulum.
C Hands of a clock.
D Revolution of Earth around the Sun.

I marked A but it is showing it unattempted

Case Study : When a piece of unmagnetised magnetic material touches or is brought near the pole of a permanent magnet, it becomes a magnet itself or we can say magnetism is induced. A north pole induces a north pole in the far end and vice versa. The induced magnetism is quickly lost when the magnet is removed from the magnetic field.

Which of these statements about magnetic induction is correct?

A Induced magnetism always make permanent magnets.
B Magnetic induction explains why an unmagnetised material may be attracted by a magnet.
C A material must touch the magnet to be induced.
D Magnetism can be induced in all the materials.

I didn't get the question and it's answer.

Two iron needles hang from the end of a bar magnet, are inclined towards each other as shown in the diagram.

The reason for this is that __________.

A the needles are induced temporary magnets
B the ends of the needles are both north poles
C the ends of the needles are both south poles
D end of left needle is south pole and end of right needle is north pole.

Why can't it be d)?

In the following questions, a statement of assertion is followed by a statement of reason. Mark the correct choice as:
Assertion : One should not touch electrical appliances with wet hands.
Reason : Water is good conductor of
electricity.

A If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.
B If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
C If assertion is true but reason is false.
D If assertion is false but reason is true.

Water is a conductor, that is why we shouldn't touch it with wet hands.

In the following questions, a statement of assertion is followed by a statement of reason. Mark the correct choice as:
Assertion : The stopping and starting of flow of electric current in an electric circuit is controlled by an electric switch.
Reason : Conductors are used to make electrical switches.

A If both assertion and reason are true and reason is the correct explanation of assertion.
B If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
C If assertion is true but reason is false.
D If assertion is false but reason is true.

Case study :All solids are found to expand on heating and contracts on cooling . This is called thermal expansion.
Thermal expansion is the tendency of matter to change in shape, area and volume in response to a change in temperature. When a solid is heated, its atom vibrate faster about their fixed points. Metallic railway tracks have small gaps so that when the sun heats them, the tracks expand into these gaps and don't buckle.

From the given figure, conclude the correct option from the following.

A The solids contract on heating.
B Before heating, when the ball is kept on the ring it just slips through the ring.
C Solids expand on cooling.
D All of the above.
